GSAT the "apartheid of the education system",

hmm!! The minister of Education who is what we call here in Jamaica, " white Jamaican" is comparing our education system with that of the apartheid system.I have never heard it being described as such, however, I do concur. According to the Free Dictionary apartheid is "An official policy of racial segregation formerly practiced in the Republic of South Africa, involving political, legal, and economic discrimination against nonwhites."
When you look at the non- traditional schools and "failing schools" schools in Jamaica that is exactly where you see the poorer class of people ( who are usually the black ones with low socio-economic status who are placed in these non-traditional and non-performing schools). Contrastly, the "white Jamaicans" and the lighter skin, middle and upper class with high socio-economic status are placed in the traditional, high performing schools.
As we seek to celebrate Jamaica 50, let us work to eliminate this   "apartheid of the education system"
